NEWS!

Sorry I have been so busy lately.  I have been helping organize a benefit BBQ and Motorcycle Ride for a dear friend who has recently been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.  His prognosis is good, but it is going to be a rough 6 months or so because he is a trucker and can't go back to it until he can repass his DOT upon completion of his treatments.  We are all hoping that we can get some money to help him and his family get through this time of need.  Thoughts and prayers are welcome and appreciated.

I have visited and followed blogs for some time now. It took me a long time to decide to give it a try and weeks to get the blog ready to publish. (Well it is really still a work in progress).

I noticed that Giveaways seem to be a way to generate followers and aid in getting a blog up and going. So here goes.

WOW my entry for the DT challenge and DLART challenge netted me some great friends/followers and some new blogs to follow myself.  I just entered the 250 follower giveaway on My Crafting Channels blog.  Go there, follow, and win!  Thanks for all the great feedback.  I was beginning to wonder if I was going to get any hits at all but I guess the key is to enter some challenges.  It worked for me!

CARDS

I am entering this card in the DT challenge at CARDZTV.  It is an "Anything Goes" challenge and I needed this for a party so I made it just in time for the challenge!  The card is 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 iridescent pearl.  The black is 4 1/2 by 4 3/4 then run through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss dots folder. Then a frame was cut using a Spellbinders die and placed with foam tape to raise it up.  The 40 was cut at 1 1/2 inches using the Storybook cartridge.  Behind the numeral, I stamped black with a "Wedding Words" block stamp from Hero Arts.  It reads "For better or worse, for richer, for poorer" etc.  The red tag is 1 inch wide with a white tag printed on the computer and then trimmed to leave a small border.  The roses are from Rock Princess and the leaves are from Storybook.  On the inside, the frame was used from the cut on the front and topped with a smaller white one.  Another rose finishes it off nicely.  The inside sentiment was printed on the computer before running it through the Cuttlebug with the Spellbinders die.

CARDS

This is my entry for Just A Scrappin Challenge!  The challenge is to make a card that moves.  The monkey rolls back and forth on a penny slider. Cuts were made from the Cricut Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge and the Life's a beach Cartridge.  I made a slot in the small green rectangle and then placed a pop dot in between two pennies, placing one behind the paper and one in front.  This rectangle is also placed on foam tape to raise it up to accommodate the penny.  I added the leaves behind the monkey because I could see the penny.  I used brown ink on the monkeys belly and outline, the tree, and the crabs.  Then I used a coral marker to highlight the shells.  I printed the sentiment on my computer using "ANDY", tore and inked a sand textured paper after printing on the computer.  It took a little while to figure out what to do as I only saw slider cards on a few videos. I wanted to try it myself and not totally copy someone else's so I started from scratch.  I think it turned out great!
