I LOVE NY!

My husband and I had a wonderful 3 day weekend for Memorial Day.  This ride to Oxbow Lake Inn for a tasty lunch included Bob taking us to this hidden covered bridge in Salisbury NY.  Met new friends Kenny & Sue and hope to ride again soon!  Glad the weatherman was wrong!

I LOVE NY!

A day at the Utica Zoo!  Although I really don't like zoos (animals shouldn't be caged) I spent the day with my family here in Utica, NY and saw what must have been some really beautiful animals at one time.  It saddened me to see the once majestic creatures languishing in the sun showing profound amounts of boredom and listlessness.  One monkey took it upon himself to entertain us while people stood and stared and pointed at him and his caged companion.  It was beautiful weather and I couldn't help but think of what these forlorn creatures might be doing in their true habitat.

The kids seem to have fun and they got to see some animals they will probably not ever see in the wild so I guess that is ok.  Of course, the last picture might scare you a little!

CARDS

A quick card for my Mom's birthday!  I love this French Blue ink pad color.  Spellbinders lacy scallop die and some olive green rippled ribbon compliment the floral pattern on the paper used to cover the card.  A simple sentiment, a butterfly and some flowers stamped off the edge finish it off nicely.

CARDS

I almost forgot my Grandma for Mother's Day so I stayed up until 1:00AM this morning and made this card so I could get it out in the mail...WHEW!  I gotta get better organized or put some alerts on my phone or something...
Started with a tan base card and punched the lacy scallops on the bottom.  Added the brocade to inside to set off the scallops and then rounded the corners.  Double punched the lacy scallops for the pink strip and added a voile bow recycled from a gift box.  One plain oval and one scallop oval frames the sentiment and a glittered butterfly finishes it off.  On the inside, another butterfly and a glittery rose completes the sentiment!
Happy Mother's Day all!

CARDS

Mother's Day Flower Pot Cards with felt flowers
and edge punches.  A little sparkle in the centers of the flowers from a sugared dot and a greeting stamped onto the ribbon.

Pull out the flowers to reveal a computer generated greeting on the inside.

Inked edges bring out the detail on the punches and a little white stitching to emphasize the flowers and the inside sentiment.

One for my Mom and one for my Mother-In-Law.

Hope my Mom's love them!

CRAFTS

Post-it note stand made with 4x6 acrylic frames turned so the stand is on the top back.  This one is for my friend who loves both Mickey and Santa.  It has one stand and a reversible card so she can turn it to whichever one she wants to see at the time. I made several of these for friends and co-workers.  The strip of paper on the pad was just to hold the notes closed for giving.

For a friend who likes butterflies and snowmen!

For co-workers, one who collects owls and the other is a music fiend!

I made the picture frame upon special request for this cute angel boy's Mom.
She loves to see her little boy's face every day and misses him when she is at
work.  The "J" is for a co-worker also.

RUBBER ON THE ROAD!

My husband works for Pepsi and we spotted this in a Walmart parking lot on my birthday trip to Lake George.  The man driving it was very nice and chatted with me while he waited for his coupon girls to get done having their lunch.  He didn't join them as they had selected a healthy restaurant.  If you haven't tried NEXT, do so.  It is a mix between diet and regular with only 60 calories and 60% less sugar than regular Pepsi.  It has a slight after taste like diet soda but not as strong and you don't notice it the more you drink.  I think it is a good alternative for those, like me, who don't like the taste of diet but don't want the sugar.
