Challenge Entry - Gift Card Holders

This week at My Craft Spot there is a Gift Card Holder Challenge.
I am not a Gift Card giver (I prefer the green)  so I made mine a money holder (I hope no one minds).

This is my base made from red cardstock sized t fit a $ bill. Sorry, I neglected to write down the measurements.  I just placed the $ on the paper and added an inch.  On the right side, I used a edger punch making sure that it was the same on both ends by starting in the middle.  Then I added a small write strip on the left side as big as the punch portion.  I scored and folded it so I had two flaps one larger than the other.  (Dang, I hate that I didn't write down the measurements).

I did this so you could see the white under the punched area when it was closed.
I stamped several graduation themes from my dollar stamps I get from Walmart, AC Moore, and Michael's.  I love these small stamps, they are so versatile.
See how the $ fits in there just right.
I put red line tape on the sides under the white strip so the $ would slip right in.

For the front, I cut the graduation girl from the Teen Scene Cartridge.  I used wood grain paper for the hair so it has different color tones like real hair.  I also used pens to color the eyes and lips and a little chalk for rouge on her cheeks.  I used black thin line pen to emphasize the mortarboard and the sleeves as I thought it was lost on the white.  I then took a small piece of embroidery thread and made a tassel for the mortarboard.

Again, my apologies for not writing down the measurements.  You can get them off most any YOU-TUBE video for money holders but I liked just winging it.  My daughter calls me last minute Lisa because when I do a project, I am winging it at the last minute and don't really have a plan.  This is mostly the reason why I don't write down the measurements.  I create as I go and change my mind several times during the process.

I will try harder next time!

Thanks for visiting!
