This project came just at the right time! I had to make a graduation card and the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge this week is "Take me out to the ballgame" I know that is usually associated with baseball but we can put our own spin on it right?!?
So below are the pieces of my card which is for a young man who plays football for his high school team. The school colors are royal blue and white. The brown paper is textured so I thought it would be perfect for a football and I also used it as my base to tie it all in.
I started by folding the brown paper into thirds like a business letter than I cut a grad cap out of royal using the Locker Talk Cricut Cartridge and the football and "touchdown" from the Sports Mania Cartridge.
I cut a piece from the checkered paper for the front and edged the bottom of the brown base card with a notched edge using decorative scissors.
I cut an oval from George and Basic shapes and placed the "touchdown" sentiment on the inside fold.
Then I attached a rectangle of white on the inside fold for the sentiment and any writing I might want to add. This was stamped in royal blue ink using a stamp from a Christmas set from Paper Wishes. (I later thought I should have put some of the blue checkered paper as a mat around the white...oh well, next time!)
I folded the white strip around the base card and creased it at the top and bottom and glued it together to make a slide closure. I attached the grad cap and football to this strip making sure the glue was only on the white strip so the closure could slide off smoothly.
And this is my finished card!
Thanks for checking in!
